Church

Cardinal Cupich says Sunday Mass on ABC TV channel 7 in Chicago at 9:30 A.M., and will for the duration of the covid 19 problem.  The mass takes 30 minutes.  I record it so I can watch it later in the day.  I usually go to church for the 11 o'clock service. Last night my husband asked how come the mass only takes 30 minutes, instead of the hour that we have at our local church.  I just started to laugh.  He takes me to church and picks me up in an hour and a quarter.  A few reasons for that.  First I get there early.  Second, we sing a lot and the choir director leads us through all the verses.  Third, our pastor does not make short sermons and there's usually somebody updating us on functions too.  Fourth, almost the whole congregation goes to communion.  Fifth, I linger a while after mass is over.  With a cane, I don't move fast, so I let the crowd go out before I leave. Welcome

March 30, 2020 Finally got in to post something. We are in the midst of a covid 19 quarantine.  Staying at home is something I usually do.  Getting too old to go traipsing around the country.  Which I did  enjoy when I could walk a lot.  The last trip we took was in Aug 2019 to visit family in Upstate New York and Philadelphia.  I had hoped to get to Nashville this spring but that's out.  Facebook will have to suffice for a long while. I like facebook because most of my family is on there and the correspondence is instant.  I don't have to write a letter and wait a long time for a reply.  I miss talking to them on the phone.  I like to hear their voices.  But the phone is like the letters.  If they aren't home and I leave a message, they may or may not reply.  If they do call, my husband will likely as not hang up on them.  We have this setup with AT&T where the person whose calling's name pops up on the TV....
